(More customer reviews)I was expecting something a bit more carpet-like, but this is a relatively flat (1/4-inch or so) mat made of fine "polypropolene" woven-in fibers. The actual colors are much brighter than they appear to be shown--the background is a bright spring green, and the reds, blues and yellows are straight primary colors. The design is good enough, with the streets allowing two Hot Wheels to pass going in opposite directions, and plenty of parking. The backing is just sort of stiff coated canvas, so it could possibly be sort of slidey if it's in a big open area (although it won't bunch up, so that helps). However, as I mentioned, I was expecting something a bit thicker and more carpety to put on a tile floor...so will probably need a pad under it anyways. It's fine as a toy and probably just as good as the other mats, but I was hoping for something a little more plush based on the higher price.
