I use the veggie bins to store stuffed animals and I have books on the shelves. i have received lots of compliments. You can also put photos or a lamp on the top. It is relaly cute. My only complaint is that there is no strap to attach the bookcase to the wall,so that is a concern. A really great product, expecially for this price. I had to search extensively to find a good storage unit for a child's room that didnt cost an arm and a leg. I highly recommend this bookcase
