(More customer reviews)I bought this for making washcloths, which has to be the easiest possible thing to make with a knitting machine. (I'm a soapmaker, and wanted a quick way to make accessories for my soap sets.)
The machine comes with a very helpful video and a lot of warnings not to expect too much too soon. It took a couple of days to master, much less time than a sewing machine or weaving loom. I didn't think the learning time was excessive. You do need a little patience.
I don't know whether I would have selected this one if I'd wanted to make complex things like fisherman sweaters. The directions for doing cables, ribbing, and lace involved a lot of hand work. Shaping seemed a little involved, too. I'm sure complex things are doable, but maybe some machines would do them more readily. For flat pieces, this machine is excellent.
I don't like the automatic row counter you can buy to go with this machine. It seems to throw me off enough that I drop stitches, where ordinarily that's not a problem.
